With investment of Rs. 2.0 Crores Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) have started academic centre for joint research and development where they will work on needs and requirement of spare programme of ISRO. The amount will be utilized in 1 years’ time on R&D projects along with promotions activities by National Institute of Technology (NITK) at Surathkal in Karnataka's southwest Dakshina Kannada district.
Under Netra project for space both the organization have come under agreement where they will use expertise of astrophysics and astronomy for developing advanced technologies for inter-planetary space explorations.
To safeguard the country's Low-Earth Orbit satellites Netra project is being accomplished by ISRO in which from space debris like inactive satellites, pieces of orbiting objects and near-earth asteroids can be hazardous to satellites.
